- How to Become a Licensed Child Care Provider
- The Child Care Licensing Program licenses both Child Care Centers (CCCs) and Family Child Care Homes (FCCHs) in California.
- Child Care Centers are usually located in a commercial building and Family Child Care Homes are in a licensee’s home.
- Only non-medical care and supervision can be provided in child care facilities and care is limited to periods of less than 24 hours.

EMSA Approved Child Care Training
- EMSA Approved Child Care Provider training consists of 16 hours of training for first-time licensees. http://emsa.ca.gov/child_care
- The hours of training must be completed as follows:
- 4 hours of Pediatric First Aid Training
- 4 hours of CPR-AED (adult, child, and infant) Training
- 8 hours of Preventive Health Practices with Nutrition & Lead Poisoning Prevention
- Every two (2) years, child care providers must renew their training by completing 4 hours of pediatric First Aid and 4 hours of pediatric CPR.

- The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) plays a vital role in improving the quality of day care for children and elderly adults by making care more affordable for many low-income families.
